Dear mother,
I'm no prodigal son returning home,
I'm that son who bent before you,
Who you shed tears for his toil,
And as I was leaving to seek self-esteem,
I won't forget of your pouring prayers,
Which ever since then if I look at the heaven,
The cloudy sky have been promising;
Then I will feel the hands of God on my shoulders,
Making me stronger than I thought I was,
And all work seemed so easier than what it meant.
Today, here I return to pay a homage,
To reassure you of my safety out there,
To tell you of amazing stories of FAMAKS,
To tell you of the good people I met,
To tell of those fabulous students I teach,
Who made me recall of my childhood,
And their love for candy was like mine,
Which used to make me broke into tears;
Just like you cuddled me, so was I to them,
Never minding how much I sacrifice so far they smile.
Dear mother,
Open your arms wider than the heaven,
Tear your cheeks to smile at my face,
Cook that my favorite food I gobble all,
Tell Kano to treat me not as a stranger,
Tell the winds of harmattan to be calmer,
For Abuja is not freezing neither did I cringe.
Please;
Tell everyone at home that Anas is coming back,
That in Allah's share all hope should best be invested.
